~A Ode To The Qe2~Read At Mid-Night
January 15th, 2010
Ask a poet for an epic poem about eternity,
It’s not so easy to write about.
But I can tell you, and I’ll tell you all about this,
About a time in a city in a place
In a club on a street in a world, a parallel universe
Called Albany, NY in a club
Once called “The QE2”
Where the dance of a thousand dancers rang true,
And the voices of the muse, the music screamed
Thru us, the very soul of our youth …
And Was “Real”
And made a sound like thunder
As it tore out the speakers
And sold us sanctuary
Like some punk~goth messiah beggars
In a temple with the shroud of a pop-art
Goddess icon named Edie which adorned
The wall upon the stage,
Right over “There”
A place where every week
We all came to worship
In the decadence
Of another age
As all time changed,
Dissipated away and
Left us all here
With our memories.
AND EVERY THING
AND THE MAKERS
OF THE SOUND, THE SCENE
All of us there for only one reason only
As the dance & the music overtook us
Upon the stage as a beautiful angel
With her long blonde hair
Watched over us
From the bar.
Back in “The Day”
So have another drink my friends
For this time it will never pass
Our way “Again”
And remember this place that
Has never left our hearts, minds
And souls …
SO LONG LIVE THE QUEEN !
LONG LIVE THE QE2!
